You may have heard about our youth employment programs, our Youth Job Connection SUMMER (YJC-S) will start in May! Parents, guardians and students are invited to virtually meet Jeri Lynch, Youth Employment Councillor from Community Employment Services to hear more about it.
What is the YJC-Summer employment program?
It’s for unemployed students returning to high school (ages 15 to 18) who want a part-time & summer job. The ideal participant is a teenager that would find it difficult to land a job on their own. Our Youth Employment Councillor helps participants with job coaching and guided practical instruction during 1-week of job readiness virtual classes – 20 hours total – which we pay attendees minimum wage for attending! Participants also meet with our Employment Consultant who specializes in finding suitable job placement locations.
This YJC-S program encourages a positive transition between education and joining the workforce. Community Employment Services in Perth is the exclusive service provider of this program for all of Lanark County; which includes Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, Mississippi Mills and everywhere in-between.
